We believe it is important for parents to monitor and understand their children’s online activities and use of mobile applications. This guide provides information about the ACTually app/website to help you understand how they work, and provides a few resources that may be useful as you consider issues related to Internet safety and online privacy. Please see our Privacy Policy for additional information about our collection, use and disclosure of information.
ACTually is a video creation and sharing app/website for users to produce and star in fun movie and TV-style scenes to share with friends, followers and fans on the ACTually platform as well as social media outlets such as Instagram and Facebook.
Utilizing all original content, background filters, musical scores, visual effects and voice and facial manipulation, ACTually generates content that is equally as fun to create as it is to watch.
The ACTually app/website are intended only for users who 13 years of age or older. Please don’t allow any children under the age of thirteen to download or use our app/website. If we receive notification that a user is under the age of 13 from the child’s parent or guardian, or receive a request to delete a child’s account and information from the child’s parent or guardian, we will remove that child’s information from our system.
A user’s profile will always be available to ACTually. (including its officers and employees).
The information available to others will depend on your child’s privacy settings.
Unless your child changes his/her privacy settings, his/her profile will be available to other users of the ACTually app/website, and those other users can communicate with him/her via the app/website (e.g., by posting a comment).
If your child changes his/her settings, the profile will only be available to the people approved by your child to “follow” him/her, and only those approved people can communicate with your child via the ACTually app/website.
The information included in the profile is entered by your child when he/she creates the profile, but typically includes the child’s name and user name and a photograph that he/she submitted.
To change privacy settings, (1) tap on the “profile” tab on the bottom menu bar, (2) tap the 3 dots on the top right to go to “settings”, (3) tap “Edit Settings”, and (4) tap on the “PRIVATE” switch.
It will depend on (1) how your child shares the video, and (2) how others who appear in the video share it. If, for example, your child (or others appearing in the video) share it on social media, the video could be viewed by anyone on the social media outlet with whom it is shared (even if your child changed his/her settings on his/her user profile).
We want ACTually to provide a safe and welcoming environment, and thus encourage users to notify us at abuse@actually.tv if others are acting inappropriately (e.g., bullying or harassing users) or otherwise violating our Terms of Service. Additionally, for someone that your child previously approved to “follow” him/her, your child may withdraw that approval, and may block certain other users from seeing his/her profile.
Below are some resources that may help you understand Internet safety and online privacy issues. We encourage you to discuss these issues with your child.
